About Me

I’m Julie Rackham, the architectural designer behind JMR Architectural Designs.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve helped homeowners across Norwich and surrounding Norfolk villages, create homes that work better for the way they live.

Whether you are considering an extension, rethinking an awkward layout or planning a one-off new-build home, I start by listening. I want to understand what you enjoy about your home, what is frustrating you, and how your needs may change in the years ahead.

The best designs are not simply about adding space; they make everyday life easier, more comfortable and more enjoyable.

I specialise in practical, thoughtfully designed home extensions and alterations for couples, growing families, families with teenagers and those planning for later life. That might mean a larger kitchen-dining space, an extra bedroom, improved storage, a more accessible ground floor or a layout that finally makes sense.

Having trained with three leading Norwich architectural practices, I bring broad experience to every project. Since forming JMR architectural designs in 2007, I have secured more than 200 successful planning applications and built my business around a personal, approachable service.

I will take the time to explore different possibilities with you, presenting design options clearly in both 2D and 3D floor plans, so you can make confident decisions before committing to your chosen design. I also bring a practical understanding of construction, materials and budgets, developed not only through my professional work, but through hands-on renovating properties with my husband.

I know that changing your home is a significant investment and can feel daunting. My role is to make the process clearer, calmer and more enjoyable—offering honest advice, responsive communication and designs that balance your ambitions with what is realistic for your property and budget.
