Architectural services tailored to you in Norwich by a female
All about me:
After training for 7 years at two large architectural practices in Norwich, I formed JMR architectural designs in order to blend my love of designing homes and family life. Although starting a new business seemed risky at the time, JMR Architectural Designs has now been in business for over 16 years. This I’m very proud of, and thank all the wonderful clients I’ve worked with along the way, with a special thank you to all those who have also recommended me to friends, family and colleagues, it means a lot to me.
I do a lot of personal building work with my husband; subsequently when I’m creating designs I am also very aware how easy they would be to build, and therefore the knock-on affect to your budget.
We spend a lot of time working to afford our home and it will always be the most expensive thing we own; therefore I understand how improving that space can really make a difference both physically and emotionally. Subsequently the favourite part of my job is knowing I’m improving people’s home life; whether that be because they will be directly benefiting from the extra space or selling their improved property to use the increased funds.
I really enjoy getting to know each client individually in order to design them a really beneficial space. I fully believe to create the best space it’s not just about the size and the look, but also how it will be used by the occupants.
Really getting to know each client also gives me the chance to assess whether there are any other spaces in their homes, which the owners haven’t noticed yet, due to the most obvious problems being more noticeable? Sometimes it’s only when the most obvious issue is solved that other potential issues are noticed; so I try to reduce the chance of either needing to go through building works twice or at least knowing what phase 2 will be once more funds are available.
I’m not a designer who aims to win awards. I’m a very practical, down-to-earth designer, with only what is best for you and your home in mind. I’m a mum so understand the needs of a family home and I’ve done some property development so understand designing to maximise potential.
If you already know how you would like your extension to look and just need your design professionally drawn-up I do recommend you look for an Architectural Technician rather than myself. This is only because I am totally honest in saying that I would expect them to be cheaper than me. I specialise in showing you the different options available in how it could look, then develop the chosen one further. I’m sure they too can guide you in design but it’s not their main specialism.
I’m very approachable so please contact me to start the process of forming your extension or new dream home.
Hope to speak to you soon,
Julie
